mirror mirror

When one of Rachel Roy's team emailed me a couple of days ago to let me know about this short film I was so excited! I love almost everything Rachel Roy does and this short film is no exception.  Rachel worked with Jennifer Venditti on this film for Spring 2010 and titled it Mirror Mirror.
The film is centered around one beautiful young woman who at the beginning of the film is not truly expressing herself and therefore lives a life of boredom, that lacks colour and imagination, two essentials for being happy. However, fashionnn comes to her rescue! {Such a superhero} and allows her to explore different parts of her personality through the clothes. Rapidly her life becomes filled with colours and she wears pretty Rachel Roy clothes and the world is great. So even though I just gave you the whole synopsis of the film...make sure you watch it. The theme of stop worrying, start living, is very prevelant in this film and I think we could all be reminded of the film's message, to live for yourself and no one else, every now and again.

fashion for haiti.

Dress-vintage. Shoes-UO. Tights-CVS. Jacket-H and M. Headband/Hat thingy- random store in Soho.

Last night Devin and I went to an event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The event which included a fashion show ,featuring local Cleveland designers as well as goodies from Saks and Nordstrom, was all to raise money for Haiti. It had only been organized in three weeks and the night was a great salute to the work people/Cleveland can do for the rest of the world. We had a lot of fun even though we were pretty much the youngest there, although any night at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a recipe for fun. Check out the snow in that first picture. I almost killed myself walking in my 5 inch heels. All these photos are from Mrc Photography as I stupidly forgot to but the battery in my camera.

Also this hat/headband creation is possibly the best conversation starter ever. Everyone complimented/asked me about/looked at it strangely from the lady at the bar, to the lady sitting next to me front row, to the man at the drive-thru Wendys.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

"Nobody knew where she came from, but who cared? She was an original, and she showed a lot of people how to have fun."

Shirt, pants, lace shirt-Thrifted. Shoes-Urban Original.

I got these pants for $3.50 at my local Goodwill. Those kinds of purchases really are the best. I always feel so accomplished when I find a great item for such a good price. It is hard to wear them a lot at the moment though because snow is piling up on the ground outside and they don't exactly look too great with my big boots. However, I am so excited for Spring and so last weekend I pulled them out for Sunday afternoon shopping with my blogger friend Devin. We have some exciting projects in the works which I am really looking forward to.
Hope everyone is getting excited for the weekendddddd!

blah blah blah.

dress and sequin jacket-vintage. sweatshirt and headband-forever 21. boots-urban original. tights-gap.

these pictures are from a whileee ago but i don't have any new ones and these have just been sitting around on my computer so I thought I may as well post them. They remind me of when I was really into longer skirts and dresses. This is a style that was shown over and over again on the runways in the past couple of weeks and so I am excited to become friends with my longer pieces again. these boots and a couple of others have lasted me all winter so far, except i wore these boots today and i slipped TWICE while walking from my car to school. very embarrassing...although the path was quite icy? this big purple jacket is fabulous and is actually quite warm. must be the weight of all those sequins.

my crackberry died of an overdose.

faux fur vest- forever 21. shirt-vintage. pants-hudson. shoes-fergie. sunglasses-raybans.

my whole day was turned upside down when after first period I looked at my phone and realized that the lcd screen had broken....whatever that means. basically my screen was just a wierd but kinda cool in a trippy sort of way mixture of colours and lines and squiggles. all which are fun to look at but dont exactly make reading emails/texts/bbms/twitter updates easy, or in my case possible at all. i felt disorientated all day without my trusty little crackberry tour with me, and when i rushed to the verizon store after school they said the fastest they can get one to me is after the weekend.

luckily i am going to austin, texas tomorrow. so that should distract my mind. maybe my phone was supposed to break so that i could have a weekend away from everything. for that reason i will not be taking my laptop with me to austin, and therefore will not blog, will not read blogs, and will not be keeping up-to-date with fashion week. shocking. i know.

rip. mcqueen. you were a legend!

infinite youth.

a little while ago I did a mini photo-shoot with the girls at CMC Photography. The theme of the shoot was "Infinite Youth" an idea that I certainly believe in. We wanted to come up with a shoot that reflected the playfulness of childhood and incorporated all of the silly things we all did back "in our youths." They came up with the genius idea of taking pictures by this blackboard and drawing objects on it, to emphasize imagination and playfulness even more. The shoot was so fun! and I am soooo sorry it has taken me so long to post these pictures girls! These are just some of the pictures that we managed to get from the short afternoon. Hope you enjoy them!

I added some of my own effects to the first couple. editing photos is kind of my guilty pleasure late at night when I can't sleep...only after I have watched Anderson Cooper of course.

.......

fashiongonerogue.

i just came across this editorial from British Vogue in 1990. The two models are of courseee the beautiful Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista and shot by Patrick Demarchelier. The whole editorial is amazing and I love the intense mixing of black and white. As I have started planning my spring break this weekend, this editorial makes me want it to be spring even sooner, and i may just have to limit my beach wear to complete black and white.
